Somebody Feed Phil
This show was recommended to me by Mr. K and being a food themed show, I was interested. Phil Rosenthal is the creator of “Everybody Loves Raymond” and decided to travel the globe to take in the local cuisine. He goes to exotic locations like Bangkok, Tel Aviv and non-exotic locations like his hometown of New York City. What does Phil have to do with food? Nothing I can readily observe. But his quirky Jewish character comes across really funny in certain situations. The funniest being when he REALLY likes something and his eyes bug out of his head.
Phil seems to be a humanitarian who likes to talk to the locals, get his crew involved with what he is eating and has a positive outlook on life. While in Bangkok Phil surprises his local guide, Nok, with a 25 dish tasting menu birthday dinner! How about that for “didn’t see that coming”. My theory is the locals like him because he has a camera crew. I travel to those locations and I would probably get mugged. The best part is when he Facetimes his stereotypical Jewish parents at the end of each episode. Those two are a hoot.
Being shot in 4K HDR, the architecture and culture come to life. Some locations are downright gorgeous and breathtaking to watch. Now I don’t have to go there!
I highly recommend this to anyone who wants a relaxing, easy-to-watch series.
